Cotes du Coeur Chef Announcement Party

On Sunday evening The Dish On Dallas was invited to attend the Cotes du Coeur Chef Announcement Party presented by the American Heart Association. The event was held at the Addison Conference Center and was just lovely. Richard Chamberlain is the Cotes du Coeur founding Chef and seems to truly donate his time and his talents to this honorable cause. Also present at this chef-studded event were David Holben (Del Frisco’s), Kevin Garvin (Neiman Marcus), and Jim Sevenson (Sevy’s Grill), and Blythe Beck (Central 214).

As you can see from the pictures, there was a wine station with an offering of red or white. There was also a cocktail station that featured St. Germain liqueur. The food was an amazing treat: smoked pork tenderloin with caramelized onions and apples, prime rib eye with a Bearnaise sauce, and poached salmon with lemon aioli. The presentation was eye catching and each dish was unique.

I had a great evening and learned a lot about the Cotes du Coeur Dallas chapter. If you are looking to get involved check out http://www.dallaswineauction.com/ for more information.

Torchy's

Jas and I have been fans of Torchy's for awhile. El Padrino #2 hijacked the weekend taco tradition a few months ago, but with all of the ice on the roads this week, I wasn't a fan of driving into the OC to get breakfast tacos & getting stuck. Yikes!
So...we went to Torchy's.

All I'm going to say is that the taco of the month, the Double Wide, is well worth a stop in.
I'm also going to say that you're going to need elastic pants...and that double wide may be the size of my a** after eating this.

Feast your eyes on this: chicken fried steak smothered in queso, topped with bacon and pico de gallo(really, what's the point of adding ANYTHING healthy here?), and finished with Cotija cheese. OMG.

I rushed into trying this monster before photographing, so sorry for the rookie mistake. But...just wow.
