Kalachandji's

Tuesday night we were up for an adventure. We decided to try Kalanchandji’s in East Dallas. This restaurant serves up vegetarian Indian food and allows you to eat inside or in a beautiful atrium opened up to the stars. You definitely do not feel like you are dining in Dallas! The menu changes daily, so make sure and check the website before you go.

Attached to the restaurant area is a beautiful Hara Krishna Temple. Guests are welcome to walk around and view the temple. The only requirement is that you do have to take your shoes off. If you feel like having a unique dining experience, this should be on your list of options!

Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse

On Monday we lunched at the Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse in the West End,
hereto referred to as Y-No.

When we walked up to the door of the establishment, there was a distinct sewer odor. Could it have been from the underground gasses? Possibly.
Could it have been from a homeless man? Odds are also good.
Being greeted by any sewer related issue - never a good way to start your dining experience.

The odor-ific event continued after we were seated, as our waiter had dabbed "a bit" of cologne on back stage. The waft was so overwhelming, I felt as if I were back teaching middle school. Was I eating chicken fried steak or Stetson? Hard to say.

We started with chips and queso - they were solid. In fact, this was the highlight of the meal.
Can you get good chips and queso elsewhere? Yes.

Soggy fries and the room temperature preparation of my burger had me puzzled. We were the only people in the joint at 11:00 on a Monday - was this burger pre-fab? Even the onion strings were chilly. Big disappointment.

These girls have never - NEVER - walked away from chicken fried steak. We even like the school caf version. Know what we don't like?
CFS that tastes like it's been reheated from last night.

This dining event was a disappointment...even with a coupon.
We won't be back.
